Five Ways To Stay In Touch With Friends As An Adult
As the old saying goes, ‘in the cookie of life, friends are the chocolate chips’. Well, someone said that one time, and it’s true, right? Friends are those who we actually choose to do life with (unlike family who you can’t pick, but that’s another story all together).
But as adults, it can be hard to stay in touch with friends as often as you’d like. The busyness of life often gets in the way as people get married, have kids or even move away – making it even harder to see them. And before you know it, weeks or even months have gone by since you’ve had a catch up.
So in the spirit of those who we love to call our buddies or pals, here’s five ways to rekindle the flame of friendship that may have gotten a bit lost. Because you know what they say, there’s nothing better in life than a friend, except a friend with chocolate.

1. Kill two birds with one stone
Well, of course we don’t mean this literally, but one of the best ways to reconnect with friends is to combine an activity you do already (like a hobby, or the gym) and invite them along too. Or you could both decide on something that you’ve always wanted to try but been too nervous to do it alone – problem solved!

2. Schedule in a regular phone call
You don’t always have to see friends face-to-face, sometimes a nice, long phone call will do the trick! And if it is one you actually schedule in (like maybe on a Sunday evening) you’re more likely to stick to it. Make sure you put it in the calendar too.
Of course, these days you could always do a video call – perhaps while you’re both eating dinner, so it’s kind of like you have gone out for a meal together! That’s definitely an idea to raise a glass to.

3. Keep it simple by going ‘old school’
‘Snail mail’ is so rare these days that it is actually rather special! So why not sit down, put pen to paper and send your friend a letter in the post? It doesn’t have to be long, but it could be a fun tradition to begin sharing some of your fondest memories of each other, recipes to try, or any other little anecdote you think they may enjoy.

4. Plan a trip
Sometimes our day-to-day lives are so busy that it can be hard to dedicate time each week to spending time with friends – so planning a trip is a great way to block out a couple of days to really reconnect. We all need a break every so often, and if we can do it with a good friend, well it makes it even more enjoyable!

5. Send each other funny gifts
Giving gifts is a wonderful way to keep in touch with friends, especially when you don’t live in the same town or city (or country!). So if you’re keen for some funny or inappropriate gift ideas for friends, what about a WTF Notebook?
Whether it’s an ‘inside’ joke that only you and your friend would know about, or you just want to give them a giggle – a customisable WTF Notebook is a great way to show you are thinking of them, and of course they will think of you every time they use it! From ones that are not safe for work, to those that are just plain rude or extra saucy – you’ll definitely find something that tickles the funny bone.
Here at WTF Notebooks we also have the option to add a custom gift message card, so it can be shipped directly to your friend, saying everything you need it to!
So now, go forth and treasure your friendships, because remember, a friend is someone who overlooks your broken fence and admires the flowers in your garden. Aww, how sweet.
